The National Bank expands the list of public information on the payment card market

The National Bank of Ukraine increases the transparency of information regarding trends in the payment market (as stated in the official  НБУ) –

from now on every quarter the central bank will publish an extended list of statistical data characterizing the market of payment cards in Ukraine. This is stated in the decision of the Board of the National Bank No. 526-rsh dated August 19, 2018.

Indicators of the payment card market will be published in an expanded format and will additionally contain data in the following sections:

payment systems (MasterCard, Visa, NPS «PROSTIR», others);
characteristics of the client (legal entities and individuals);
places of transaction (in the bank’s own network, in the network of other resident banks, non-resident banks).

Data on the number of contactless payment terminals and e-commerce stores will also be published.

«The expansion of the spectrum of publicly available data will provide an opportunity to conduct a more detailed analysis of the payment market, its development trends, and will also increase the transparency of the activities of market participants,» noted Oleksandr Yablunivskyi, director of the Department of Payment Systems and Innovative Development of the National Bank of Ukraine.
