According to the calculations of the Ministry of Economic Development, in the first quarter of 2018, the level of the shadow economy was 33% of the official GDP, which is 4 percentage points less compared to the same period of 2017. This is stated in the report prepared by the Department of Economic Strategy and Macroeconomic Forecasting of the Ministry of Economic Development.
The deification of the Ukrainian economy became possible thanks to:
preservation of the main signs of macroeconomic stability and positive economic trends in the conditions of the implementation of policies aimed at expanding domestic demand, which was facilitated, among other things, by the increase in the income of the population, and favorable external conditions;
strengthening the investment component of economic growth in the context of continuing the processes of economic reform, maintaining a high level of business activity and improving expectations.
At the same time, the dynamics of detinization is restrained by unresolved problems that negatively affect the development of the country’s economy as a whole. These are, in particular: the preservation of significant challenges to the stability of the country’s financial system and the presence of territories not controlled by the authorities, formed in the course of military aggression on the territory of the country.
